My Style Tips: Be a Chic Beach

I have had a rough few weeks, hints the lack of posts. This whole moving to another city to conquer the world and live my dreams thing has been a lot harder than I thought it would be:/  However chicettes, this too shall pass. In the midst of all the sulking and home-sickness I’ve experienced I realized I have never missed the beach so much in my life! I grew up near the beach and I always tell people how over the beach I’ve become, but I would give the left pair of my favorite gladiator flats to feel a wave crash against my skin, buuut not the left pair of these super chic flats in the look below:

Chic Beach Bum

If I ever make it to the beach before the end of the summer I want to do it in style. I love bikinis, but this year has been a year that I have wanted to try new silhouettes and designs and this bold print one piece will certainly do the trick. Paired with a great summer hat, beach bag and pair of light cover ups this look can go from fab to lous  all in one shot. And don’t even get me started with these super chic pair of gladiators that finish the look perfectly. Bottom line, I want to go to the beach and I want to be super cute when I do it.

If you too are on the way to the beach this summer or you’ve been and want to present a new look, try switching out the bikinis for a chic one piece and make it your own by adding a few pieces that pop 🙂

My Style Tips: Birthday Fun

Everyday is some ones birthday, however next month actually happens to be the birthday of a friend of mine. Your birthday is one of the days you are supposed to feel extra special and extra beautiful, so my early birthday gift to my friend is this to help her look her absolute best on her day!

I am a huge fan of what I like to call, the reversible mullet effect. Which is basically work at the top party on the bottom or visa versa. I want my girl to look super hot without being overly sexy, so below are a few birthday looks I know will look HOTT on her:

Birthday fun

Look #1:

With this look I wanted to have the party at the top with a sexy plunge neck and tone it down a bit with a fit and flair skirt. Above is a dress, but this look can be achieved with a plunge neck blouse and a fit and flair skirt. To add more fun to the look pair with a sexy pair of strappy sandals.

Look #2:

So, here you have the party on the bottom with a form-fitting bodycon midi skirt. It will show off all of your curves flawlessly. To tone down the sexy bottom pair with a peplum top to bring a sophisticated touch to the look. Again pair with a fun strappy sandal.

The theme of these birthday looks are to be sexy and fun without looking like you are trying to hard. Play around with different prints and colors to compliment your personality and of course make sure that your hair to laid and face beat! I hope this helps!:)

My Style Tips: Clearly Needed

If I ever had to pressure anyone into a particular trend, it would hands down be a super funky clear heel. They will add a cute twist to your perfectly styled looks in a heart beat. I’d recommend rocking them with a simple pair of jeans and white t-shirt and you are sure to be ahead of the style curve. Here are a few of my favorites on the market now.

Are you a clear heel girl? Let me know and have a great weekend loves!

My Style Tips: Shoe Trend Shift

The true test of a styleista is having the ability to acknowledge a trend, rock it (if it appeals to your style) and at the same time be aware of what is to come next. The worst thing you could do is be left with a closet full of trendy items that have fallen out of style.

Trends are thrown at us in hopes that we will accept them, love them, purchase them. When a trend hits streets successfully it blows up and over saturates the market with high-end and lower end choices.

Take for example the platform shoe. This trend has been going strong for some time now, any and everywhere you go there is no shortage of platform pumps, sandals and booties. I love this trend, platforms are stylish and most importantly comfy! I say, if you can add a pair or two of platform shoes to your collection, go for it, but remember not to take it over board. Make sure to have an array of different styles at your disposal.

Currently, I am seeing a shift in the shoe trend. The platform, yet still there with vengeance, is being chopped away to reveal a less chunky approach to shoe design. Some may think of this style as matronly or boring but when approached with modern accents and colors th designs shoe off a classic twist.

Classic Twist
Classic design always needs to be a staple in your wardrobe. When looking to modernize a classic shoe, look for designs that mimics the current trend in a subtle way so that the shoe can live on from season to season.

Mid-Week Mid-Drift

We made it! Happy hump day everyone!

So at the beginning of the spring season I told you all that I was going to be incorporating white hues into my spring wardrobe. Well here is a look that falls in that category while showing of a little bit of skin.

When going for a monotone look, such as wearing all white, it is important to pay close attention to fabrics, various hues and textures to avoid looking totally one-dimensional. The skirt I’m wearing is apart of  a suit combo, but I really admired the sort of rustic feel of the fabric. It reminded me of a chic rug 🙂  I used this to my advantage and styled it in a way that would complement the sophistication of the skirt being a part of a suit and at the same time make it appear dressed down enough for a warm spring day.

This look gives off a very sleek tribal feel that I love! You can totally see me in a staged Congo movie scene, right! 🙂 Any who, I wanted to bring in the neon sandal for a quick pop of color. Neon is all of the rage right now so I think that this was a great way to incorporate it into my look. When it comes to accessories I have always been a minimalist. A necklace here, some cute earrings there. Most of the time I am rocking a pair of pearl studs and a watch lol. For this look I kept the watch and switched out my pearls for a cool pair of vintage earrings. The unique design of them caught my eye. They reminded me of a piece that could be found in an African village, which went great with the sort of tribal sleek feel I was going for.

What I am Wearing:

Top: Thrifted

Skirt: White House Black Market (old)

Shoes: Thrifted

Earrings: Bought at a local vintage shop

Thank you for stopping by, I hope that you all enjoyed the look! Talk to you soon!

Roaring Pleats

Happy Monday my beautiful readers! I hope that every one enjoyed their weekends and Easter Sunday.

When I saw this dress it reminded me of the roaring twenties, the era of the flapper. Women rebelled against what was the norm. They changed their hair, their wardrobe, their mindset and started a new. Sort of like a change in season. When a new season starts it is always a great  time to reflect and renew your appearance and goals both inside and out.

Easter has always been one of my favorite holidays. It signifies the day that we were all given a new life and a second chance to become the amazing people God wants us to be. How wonderful is that! It is also the day I use to mark the official start of the spring season and to welcome the new blooming flowers, sunshine and a new wardrobe!

My Easter look was inspired by the sign of new life and joy. Fun, colorful and free-flowing.

What I am Wearing:

Dress: Lauren Conrad (Kohls)

Shoes: Vince Camuto (old)

Sunnies: Asos

Necklace: Not sure (old)

Thanks for stopping by!
