The 1, 2, 3’s of Thrifting

Thrifting isn’t as hard as some may think. All you need is some time and a plan. It can be overwhelming to go through a warehouse full of randomly placed clothing. Use my simple list of what to do and you are sure to be successful.

1. Shop with a plan

There is so much to look through that it is easy to get out of control. Before you go to your local thrift store try to come up with a plan. Have an idea of what you are looking for and go from there. Without a plan you will find yourself wondering back and forth.

2.Try on EVERYTHING

Something may look great on a hanger but when you try it on the fit or the style may be all wrong. When you try on items you can catch flaws that may not be worth the trouble.

3.Shop on discount days

You can get the most out of your experience if you find something you absolutely love on a day when it’s 50% off! In my area Goodwill has a 50% off clothing every Monday. Find out which days yours are having sales and go shop!

4. Shop by yourself

If you are anything like me you may end up in a thrift store for hours. You don’t want to be rushed through you time trying to cater to someone elses needs. This is serious you could end up finding something major!

5. Take your time

Impulse buying is just not an option here. Be sure that a certain piece is something you really love before you decide on taking it home with you. Nothings worst than a closet full of unused used clothing!  lol:)

6. Shop in every department

You can always find unexpected pieces in every department. Don’t discriminate certain departments because you think it may not have anything for you. Trust me you will run into some interesting gems if you explore a bit.

I really hope that this list gives you a good idea of how to get started for all of th beginning thrifters out there. Let me know if you have any further questions!
