Lemony Lace

Happy Monday everyone! So this past week has been super crazy for me. Remember in my New Year post I told you all that I was planning on relocating in February. Well, instead of relocating I went to New York Fashion Week, lol. It was an opportunity that I could NOT pass up so I pushed back my moving date and finally the time has come for me to get going. I am in the midst of relocating and my biggest concern has been making sure that I get all of the random items I purchased online! On Friday, I finally received 2 out of 3 things in transit and of course I had to share them with you.

I scored this A-FREAKIN-MAZING vintage lace top on eBay! I have always and will always rave about the things you can find on eBay if you take your time and really pick through everything offered. The key to conquering eBay is by approaching it as if you are going thrifting. Have an idea of what you are looking for and start from there. Whenever you search for a specific item, eBay always gives suggestions of other items you may like that are similar to the one you are searching for. ALWAYS pay attention to these suggestions because you may find a gem in the midst of all the cubic zirconium.

This vintage top is from the early 1960′s fashion era and I wanted to play on that theme. So, I paired it with these great pair of tuxedo pants, super cute cork color block sandals and bold 60′s inspired sunnies.

What I am wearing:

Top: Vintage (eBay)

Pants: Steve Madden

Shoes: Purchased at a local shoe store

Sunnies: Michael Kors

I’m sure that I am not the only eBay junkie here. Have any of you found an eBay gem lately? If so, I want to see or at least hear about it! :)

Thanks for stopping by! Have a great week!

Peace Love Style,

Dominique

P.S. The second dose of “How’d you put that together” is coming up tomorrow~! Stay tuned :)

And I Love It!: I’m Feeling Snoody

Winter is approaching, we all know it and some of us can certainly feel it! With winter comes the opportunity to really be creative and layer our lives away to create warm, chic looks for everyday. One of the most popular layering pieces for winter weather is the ever so versatile scarf. Scarves can add a pop of personality to any look and it keeps your neck warm all at the same time!:)

Buuut lets just be honest, they can be really hard to style. I am always trying to find new and innovative ways to wrap them around my neck without one side sliding down messing up my perfectly styled look. Well some time ago I found the perfect solution! A SNOOD!

What is a snood you ask? Well it is basically a circular scarf that makes creating the perfectly wrapped scarf look a no brainer! I LOVE them! They come in all types of prints and textures and they are super chic! Here are few of my favorites that I found and where you can get them! :) Winter Snoods

These may be a splurge for some, but no worries! You can find snoods for a great deal at various locations such as Target,  and of course one of my go to places, Ebay.

I hope you guys are as excited as I am about these snoods! Go get you some!

CHICFancy Obsessions: Faux Fur

Yes, I am coming to you guys with yet another obsession of mine. You will be happy to know that I have fulfilled my obsession with corduroy. I found a great pair at goodwill for $4.49! I will be sharing them with you in my very first, of many to come, DIY post so get excited!!!!! Back to my current obsession. I am on the look out for a great faux fur jacket. I love the quick glam it adds to any type of outfit be it casual or dressy. My requirements are that it be of a natural camel type color and that it is big and fluffy, but not overpowering. I’ve found a few but of course I am going to keep my eye out for other alternatives.

H&M $69.95

I love this H&M coat it is exactly the type of coat I am looking for. I like that it’s fluffy and luxurious without being too much. However, with it being H&M everybody and their unborn children will be wearing this so I may pass, but I’ll keep it as an option.

Asos $65.00 via Ebay

Now you guys know it wouldn’t be me if I hadn’t checked Ebay for an additional option. I love the collar of this coat and the color is great too, it’s definitely on the list of maybes.

Peace Love Fashion,

Dominique

Wear This, Not That: Faux Leather

Leather is a very hot trend right now and we all want our piece of it but leather can get very expensive. A fashionable piece of real genuine leather clothing can run you into the hundreds and even thousands of dollars range. For the everyday person that price is just not realistic, therefore we must turn to faux leather pieces. All faux leather is not created equal, they come in various different textures and treatments and in order to get the best out of your faux leather you must choose wisely. I’ve researched a few that I believe worthy to rock and not so worthy to rock.

Wear This

Go for a low sheen 100% polyurethane faux leather, it will be the closest to a genuine leather fabric with out the hefty price.  I found a great  pair of faux leather pants on eBay from this buyer  runnickyrun for a great price!

Not That

Tons of people make the mistake of buying a leather item that just looks too faux. Steer clear from the faux leather that has a sheen to it. The shiny texture shows the low quality of the fabric and that is what you want to get away from.

Can you see the difference in the quality? I hope this helps you guys out when you are looking for your fall leather items. Shop carefully and wisely so that you always look chic and fancy! :)

And I Love It!: My Top 5 Places to Shop

People always ask me where I get some of the pieces I wear, so here is a quick post of my top 5 places to shop:

5.

Looking for a specific trend? Asos is usually the place to find it. This UK based online clothing company has a wide variety of clothing to choose from and they never disappoint.  I usually hit up Asos for special occasions to find a unique piece.

4.

I have found many gems on Ebay at reasonable prices. I know you guys know all about Ebay so I won’t talk too much about them, but this is where I go to find quality pieces for a good price.

3.

I worked for Dillards for almost 2 1/2 years and in that time I grew fond of them. They don’t necessarily have the best shopping but sometimes you can find some good stuff. I only shop here when they have an additional off sale to rack up on basics and hidden finds.

2.

All my true fashionistas can understand this choice! If you have the patience,  time and inspiration goodwill can be your best friend. The good thing about them is that you find unique pieces that most likely no one will have at a DIRT cheap price! In a world where H&M and Forever 21 continues to make heads hang low in shame of running into someone with the exact same outfit on, a bit of uniqueness is needed. Stay tuned for my thrifting shopping guide, I’ll show you how it’s done!

1.

Yes, Ross is hands down my top favorite place to shop! It is an official part of my weekly schedule. Wake up, shower, work, ROSS, home! LOL I can go there and get an entire outfit, pants, shirt, shoes, purse and spend close to nothing! I go to Ross just for the thrill and usually end up getting something for my everyday wear.

I love these stores dearly, but I’m always open to fun new places to spend my coins! What are your favorite spots to shop?
